Blount moved his collection of railroad rolling stock to Bellows Falls, Vermont where he created Steamtown USA as a not-for-profit museum so the Union Pacific could donate it. Originally, he worked out a deal with the State of New Hampshire to take it as part of a deal to create a state railroad museum the deal fell through. Nelson Blount discovered that in order to acquire the locomotive, it had to be in the name of a not-for-profit organization. Visitors to Steamtown NHS observe the "Big Boy" while on display prior to its cosmetic restoration.į.
